As a teenager he was known as Tricky Kid and he and his crew, Fresh Four, would wreak havoc upon anyone who dared cross their paths. In 1985. when he was seventeen. Tricky went to jail for four days for dealing counterfeit bank notes. Tricky explains, "I used to smoke too much spliff, which can give you delusions. And schizophrenia." Tricky eventually hooked up with the Wild Bunch, the DJ/musical collective that ruled Bristol's nightlife.
